About Me

I’ve had the good fortune to work within a variety of industries and orgs to show skeptics the value of great UX and design, while telling a bad joke or 2 along the way.

I’m a big proponent of getting uncomfortable as a means to growth so you will often find me trying new things, both professionally and personally.

Design Career

It’s been rewarding, challenging, and fun building my UX and Design career. I have worked across a variety of industries, bringing innovative ideas to market while wearing every UX hat in the process from researcher to hi-fi protoyper. My career has spanned from startups to an agency to a global orgs, continually focused on bringing UX practices to internal product teams and client facing projects.

Most recently I was a lead designer at Tegus. where I worked on improving the fundamental investor’s research process through new qualitative data sets. Before Tegus, I was the first and Principal Product Design hire at Thoughtful, where I led research and design to bring a B2B digital worker management tool from 0 to 1.

Previously I was the Experience Design Lead for Ops Interactive, a large design team at Accenture. There I led the team I built of UX Researchers and Experience Designers who use research and testing methods to create intuitive interfaces for complex enterprise products.

In prior roles I worked at fast growing startups like FourKites and SpotOn in Chicago as a UX Designer, where I learned to think quickly on my feet and to apply the best methods when faced with time and budget constraints.

And in my past life, I worked in wholesale bakery manufacturing and helped grow the business by working with clients such as restaurants, grocery stores, and caterers on new food products that solved the client’s needs while maximizing margins for the business. The business, Chicago Sweet Connection Bakery, continues to operate today and I am now involved in an advisory capacity.

Outside the Office

My physical space is important to me, so I’m often redecorating and perfecting areas of my home. I find peace in meditation. I enjoy reading books about business, strategy, and psychology. And I have a 16 year old toy poodle who I try to bring on as many adventures as possible, even if that means pulling him around in a little cart!

As a life long learner, I love trying new things. Most recently I signed up for a wheel throwing class. Here are some photos of me tinkering and trying:
